LEADING meningitis charity Meningitis Now is encouraging companies to sign up for a month of mayhem in May to raise vital funds to fight the killer disease.
The charity, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is encouraging organisations to join it for May Mayhem 2016 and help with its research, awareness and support programmes.
“May Mayhem is all about having fun in the workplace whilst holding as many fundraising activities as possible,” explained Harry Gardner, the charity’s Corporate Account Executive.
“Throughout the month of May we’re asking people to get sponsored to give up something, participate in a challenge or perhaps hold a dress down day.”
The charity has produced a pack of ideas to help get people started – from holding an office Olympics to being a film star for the day.
“As a charity that receives no Government money we’re entirely reliant on the energy, enthusiasm and initiative of our supporters to raise the money we need each and every day to offer our range of research, awareness and support activities,” Harry added.
“Joining in with May Mayhem will make a real difference to those who are at risk from meningitis and those whose lives have already been changed forever because of it.”
One company already signed up to May Mayhem is Sesame Bankhall Group, the UK’s largest distributor of retail financial advice. Their Managing Director Stephen Gazard is encouraging other organisations to take part after his 14-month-old daughter, Ella, contracted the disease. Fortunately, she made a good recovery.
Stephen, a trustee of the charity, said: “Meningitis is a devastating disease that can strike anybody at any time. The work Meningitis Now is doing is lifesaving and life-changing, but it needs your support to continue.
“Please join us for some May Mayhem and help us move ever nearer to achieving our vision where no one dies from meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives.”
