Rose Apartment was built specifically for wheelchair users, alongside my own home. The level entrance leads into a wide hallway at the end of which is a dining bay. The bed-sitting room has twin beds, armchairs, cupboards, and TV, with plenty of space. A mobile hoist (not provided) can fit alongside the beds.
The kitchen is designed to have everything accessible from a wheelchair, with knee space under sink and hob. There is also a perching stool. Equipment includes a fridge-freezer, 4 ring electric hob and a combination microwave.
The level entry shower has an optional seat, and the toilet has rails either side. .
All doorways are wide. Double doors lead out of the sitting room onto a sun-trap terrace overlooking the garden. A lawn is beyond the terrace, shaded by a variegated maple tree. Then there is a herbaceous border full of colour, and beyond that an extensive vegetable plot. Usually the resident hens can offer fresh eggs. The tarmac drive provides parking right next to the entrance.
We provide bedding and towels.
Rose flat is peaceful and congenial.
Farnham, designated a craft town with lots of history, is just over a mile away, as are the railway station (from Waterloo) and the A31. Tilford village with a beautiful green (where cricket is often being played) and a riverside pub is just over a mile away in the opposite direction, through woodland.
