Dizzying abseils, skydives, log flume marathons, bike rides and raft races are just a few of the exciting activities customers of Majestic Bingo Limited indulged in to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity.
The 16 bingo clubs of Majestic Bingo Limited raised a grand total of £132,063.81 over four years for Variety. The average sum of money raised per club has been over £2,000, each year, every year, for four years – the highest of any bingo organisation supporting Variety, the industry’s nominated charity.
Of this feat, Mark Jepp, Managing Director of Majestic Bingo, said: “It’s all down to our dedicated clubs and their generous customers, we can’t thank them enough.
“We’re proud to have pulled off some very unique events which not only motivates the staff to get involved, it keeps our customers engaged. Clubs really got behind the Moon and Back event to help bring the concept to life.”
Representatives from Majestic Bingo attended a parliamentary reception on Tuesday 20th November in recognition of their efforts. They were joined by charity champions from other bingo operators, customers and Variety ambassadors to celebrate the industry’s collective achievements.
In June, Majestic Bingo joined the Bingo Association to present a Sunshine Bus to Sandside Lodge School in Ulverston, made possible due to the combined fundraising efforts of bingo clubs across the country. The special needs school caters for 2 to 19 year olds with ASD, severe learning difficulties and a range of other conditions. It is approximately 20 minutes’ drive from Apollo Barrow in Furness, one of 16 clubs owned by Majestic Bingo Limited.
The Bingo Association, which represents 99% of all UK retail bingo clubs, including Majestic Bingo, selected Variety as their nominated charity in 2015.
Miles Baron, CEO of the Bingo Association said: “Majestic Bingo are not only brilliant supporters of Variety, the Children’s Charity, but are fantastic ambassadors for the UK Bingo Industry. Their incredible fundraising efforts are testimony to the fact Majestic Bingo believes strongly that playing Bingo is a social activity with the local community at its heart.”
Frances Lang, Variety’s Chief Executive commented “It’s wonderful to see such imaginative and enthusiastic support for Variety. The legacy of this partnership will be felt for many years to come by children and their families.”
