The Bluebird Care team have been encouraging people to help make someone smile throughout their day. At the start of November, they introduced the #SpreadASmile campaign, which invited their teams from across the country to document their acts of kindness on social media and encourage others to do the same.
This campaign was set up to tackle loneliness and depression, which becomes more prevalent at this time of year, as we approach the festive seasons and people get swept up in the mayhem of Christmas.
Bluebird Care teams across the country jumped into action and started doing small things to brighten people’s days. Some teams within the Bluebird Care Network sung to their customers on their visit, other care teams reminisced with their customers about their dancing days when they were younger or made them a cup of tea and many staff did something nice for their colleagues around the office.
Others went more than the extra mile to support their customers – Tanya, who is a care assistant at Bluebird Care Swindon donated a spare pair of net curtains and put them up for her customer Doris, giving her that extra bit of privacy at home. This act of kindness brought a smile to Doris’ face, which will last more than just one day.
Katie Holloway, Social Media Manager at Bluebird Care, said:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the pictures and stories that have been coming through from all our offices. Our care teams have really taken to this challenge and the amount of happiness and joy they have spread around to their colleagues, customers and even strangers is really wonderful. I hope this campaign has made people think about how they can help others, and how easy it is to enhance someone’s day with a simple gesture.”
