Don't miss seeing superheroes in action at Dorney Lake!

August 15, 2017

With only a few days to go ahead of its debut event, the Superhero Series powered by npower is inviting spectators to come and see nearly 2,000 superheroes at Dorney Lake on August 19th.

The series has an open invite for everyone to come down with megaphones, banners and flags to cheer the Superheroes over the line. Not only will you be treated to some trailblazing sporting moments and top celebrity spotting, the day is also laying on a super-sized fun day out for Superheroes, Sidekicks and spectators big and small.

Big, bold and gutsy, Superhero Series powered by npower is the only sports series dedicated to the UK’s 12.9 million people with disabilities and long-term injuries. The Series removes equipment restrictions that prevent people from taking part and enables participants to unite with disabled and non-disabled family and friends to do as much or as little as they wish, with as much or as little time and support as they need.Don't miss seeing superheroes in action at Dorney Lake!

Those watching on the day will be lucky enough to see celebrity Team Captains and World Para athletics champions taking part including Jonnie Peacock, Kadeena Cox and Georgina Hermitage along with many other gold medallist and world record breaking para athletes. The Superhero Tri event is set up so participants can take a stage each and work together to complete the course – including the super fun relay where 250 teams are taking part!

On the day, spectators can expect awarding winning food from sponsors Daisy Green, live music from the Best Live Band plus lots exciting sports tasters on offer including adaptive surfing, wheelchair basketball, paddle boarding, or spectators can take a spin on all manner of adaptive bikes.

The emphasis is very much on fun, and mask, capes and pants over tights are positively encouraged. Paralympian and Superhero Series founder Sophia Warner said: “This event is a much needed chance for Superheroes all across the UK to take part in an all-inclusive sporting event. The day itself is shaping up to be the most unique event of the year. Whether you’d like to chill by the big screen in the family fun zone and watch the action or try the fun and games to keep you entertained – everyone is welcome. Come down to Dorney Lake on August 19th to show your support for the Superheroes!”
